This is probably not safe for work. Or mind. NSFW/NMS

Or: The dream I had last night. (Involves dinosaur sex)

James is selected to be part of an experiment. He's given a list of people he knows will be in his 'group' and then he's sucked into a portal, where he's transformed into a velociraptor (and a female one at that) in the process- he sees his fingers becoming claws, feels his skin pebbling and toughening, feels like his back is popping over and over, but it doesn't  hurt. He lands and is taken over by his instincts, and hunts a human female until he recovers his senses. Immediately the two are assaulted by a prehistoric rhinocerous who transforms into a gangly young man and continues the assault.

He chases the James raptor up to a border of a forest, where the rhino taunts James that raptors do very poorly in the forest. It begins to rain meteors upon their prehistoric battlefield and both seek cover underneath modern objects in their human form. James ends up with the human female and apologizes, then decides the rhino needs to die when the rhino makes threats from across the field and rushes out during the meteor storm, transforming to attack him. The rhino-man transforms back and fights, James claws out an eye (his other attacks are useless against the hide of the prehistoric rhino) and lures the half-blind rhino into being hit by a meteor strike by pointing up smugly. The rhino isn't hit directly, but is half-burned and apparently dead.

James and the female are assaulted by a pack of raptors who chase them up a hill into an abandoned mansion full of industrial and texture factory-like stuff. Eventually they figure out a way to fight back using tools, and are joined by a group of figures who have camped up on the upper level. They are admonished for leading the raptors there, and then they fend them off. The leader remarks on how the raptors have been getting bigger, stronger and smarter lately.

They are then attacked by an Allosaurus leading the raptors and James agrees to lure it away- he has one of the few forms with weapons. Not everyone got lucky enough to have useful forms. He launches a quick attack on a raptor and then flees. The raptors follow with the Allosaurus in tow, and James runs into the woods previously mentioned, and with no other option, actually figures out how to climb the trees of the forest. The raptors are unable to follow for now, and simply stare at him from a distance. Frustrated, they stalk off.

James returns under the cover of night to the mansion. Despite the relenting of the assault, the leader of the camp knows the raptors will be back now that have smelled food here- they need to move. It turns out that are more forms than dinosaurs, but many of them can't stand a candle to the dinosaur forms, being unable to survive in a one on one fight with a sizable beast. The leader suspects the intelligence and presence of the dinosaurs is due to groups in the past that have failed and simply remained in this strange place, breeding somehow over the generations.

The group moves to the forest and begins to travel through it enmasse as humans, and are nearly at the edge of the forest's end when they hear a scream of pain nearby. They investigate to find the gangly rhino-man from earlier- barely alive, and placed against a tree. His leg has been snapped in half, and after James quickly explains the man's injuries, the leader questions why he screamed. The man just grins and points up smugly (echoing Jame's earlier taunt) and the whole group looks up to see the raptors, who have learned from James climbing and are able to traverse the trees now from above. They attack.

Many of the group come under attack, and the rest manage to escape. The leader is FURIOUS with James and accuses him of being responsible for all of this. Then a survivor emerges from the forest and says the raptors have taken hostages- they're wounding but not killing people, and have them collected at the forest edge. The leader and james approach, and the raptors surround them. The leader points a weapon at James and orders him to transform into a raptor- he's trading him for his people back. And the raptors do let everyone go after James transforms and slowly walks over to their side- he has no choice.

The leader leaves, and James finds his head forced agaisnt the ground by one of the raptors. They don't talk- they chitter, and he can only vaguely understand the meanings, like distant babbling. However, when the dominant raptor begins to approach him from behind with a dangling, erecting penis, James realizes the fact his raptor form is female is why the raptors have taken such an interest in him. He can't see any female raptors in this pack.

He is forcibly ravaged, but it is strangely non-sexual. The raptor seems more interested in opening him and stretching him than in its own pleasure or ejaculation, like it's probing him. The reasoning for this becomes clear when he hears heavy footsteps approaching-the allosaurus has returned. It is to his horror then that he realizes that the lead raptor wasn't intending to rape him- it was intending to PREPARE him, loosen him up for their true alpha male's intentions. The allosaurus sets itself over him as James is held down by several raptors, screaming. He is unable to transform.

At the survivor's camp, some time later in the evening, the raptor form of James slowly walks up to them and collapses, transforming back into a human at last. However, James is no longer male- his human form is female now. The leader has seen this happen once before- when a female form was impregnated, the human form was unable to change back to male. James eventually awakens and this information is shared with him. He is too traumatized to react to it. He says it was the Allosaurus that did it. The leader is shocked, but then says that it makes sense now- the raptors have been getting bigger and stronger because the Allosaurus is somehow contributing it's genetic DNA to theirs, creating some kind of half-breeds. However, using their females in this way is clearly killing their females off- whether in the act of mating, or in the act of birth, he doesn't know. This means, he suspects, that James has until his raptor form gives birth to live.

James asks what the hell kind of world he's been dropped into and wants out.
